Happy Friday, LIs!  It was great working with you all at Tuesday's Virtual Meeting.  Amberle and I were super excited by all of the amazing work you produced!  I revised the RCS based on your very helpful feedback.  Kermit expresses my excitement and deep appreciation at how productive the meeting was and how engaged you all were.

Per Session

  • Per Session was due yesterday.  If you did not submit on time, you will submit with the April round of per session.

Upcoming Meetings

  • April 16th, 4:30-6:30 is our next Virtual Meeting.  Please calendar this date.  Attendance at trainings is mandatory.

Upcoming PT Assignments

  • 3.20: Gateway 1 Reflection
  • 3.28: Formative Data Assessment Reflection
    • Please continue to FYI late or missing assignments with documentation of all related communication with PTs.
    • I am more than happy to support you with communicating with PTs -- please do not hesitate to reach out.
    • Additionally, our support staff can help with grading.  Let me know as soon as possible (ideally before the assignment submission deadline) if you would like me to reach out to the support team for help.  This leaves time for you to communicate with the support person, norm the grading if needed, review expectations, etc.

Parent Teacher Conferences

  • Middle School LIs -- please let me know if you need a sub on 3/27 for PTC. I had planned to get a slew of subs for all of us, but I forgot that some schools hold afternoon and evening on the same day so subs might not be needed for everyone (my school does both on Tuesday).

Upcoming SBS:
3.27 - Engagement Strategies (D75 and Non-D75)

  • For this session (D75 in particular!) please layer in other engagement strategies other than those presented that you use with your students.  Acknowledge that some work better than others depending on the class and encourage PTs to be open minded (especially if anyone says "this wouldn't work on my students.")
  • Please double check all of the videos ahead of time and if something isn't working (ex: WiFi), skip the videos and send them out to the PTs after the session.
  • Privilege practice time!  Ensure PTs are authentically engaging, even though it can certainly feel awkward.

3.28 - Responding to Student Answers (Non-D75)

  • Slides 12 and 16 have the LI role play with some of the PTs acting as participating students.  Ensure you are familiar with the scenarios. You may adjust as long as the debrief on the next slide is aligned.
  • The Flow Chart on slide 19 is typically confusing to PTs at first.  Take some time to review it with them so they see the logic of it.

3.28 - Break It Down (D75)

  • On slides 3 and 13, consider changing some of the examples to reflect what your PTs' might encounter in their classrooms.
  • You may replace a video with a scenario you have encountered in your classroom, or that one of your PT's has encountered.
  • You may also replace a practice scenario on the PTs' handout if you have a more relevant scenario to share; however, ensure PTs are practicing the skills presented in the session.

LI News Blast #1: Logistics and Reminders

Hello LIs!!  Congratulations on your first week of facilitating Skill Building Sessions for your PTS!  I'm sure they had many questions for you, and you for us!  Please don't hesitate to reach out to us for support. Please also accept my deepest apologies for not being with you the first two days of SBS!  I've been very ill and was so disappointed to miss you all on Wednesday and Thursday! Going forward, this blog will be your first stop shop for questions and reminders.  You'll be able to search by "label" to find the specific information you're looking for.  For example, this blog post contains information about our substitute policy, so searching for the key term "sub" or "substitute" will pull up this post for quick access in the future. Additionally, each Friday post will contain tips for facilitating the following week's SBS.  Read on for important updates and information! LI Absence and Substitute Policy Steps
Happy Friday!  9 WAKE-UPS UNTIL SPRING BREAK! Short and sweet this week! Summer Positions You all should have received an email inquiring about your availability and interest in working this summer.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  You are also welcome to indicate in the reflection if you are only interested in subbing. Portfolios A few PTs have asked if the accumulation of points they receive on their assignments impacts whether or not they "pass" the program.  The answer is no.  Their assignments go into their Final Teaching Portfolio.  If they received a low score on an assignment, they can and should revise it before adding it to and submitting their Portfolio.  The overall score on their Portfolio  does  impact their ability to "pass" and teach in the Fall. PT Survey #2 Data Be on the lookout for your individual data with next steps!  We are still disaggregating data by LI.  You will have it before our meeting on April 16
