Happy Friday, LIs! It's a long haul to Spring Break, but you're all keeping the dream alive!
Today is Angela's official last day! Good luck on your new adventure, Angela! We will miss you.
Gateway 1 and PIPs
Gateway 1 closed today, March 8th. PT performance data is under review and will drive the topics for our first two Responsive Coaching Sessions (RCS), scheduled for Friday, March 22nd. I'll share with you the names of the PTs who will be invited, based on their Gateway 1 performance.
- PTs may be expressing to you their anxiety around their performance, particularly if they are placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
- Please reiterate that PIPs are meant to support not punish or place anyone "on notice." PIPs target the PTs area of growth and helps to move them to where they need to be before the next Gateway. Approximately 25% of PTs are placed on PIPs, and only about 5% of PTs are outplaced.
Virtual LI Meeting 3.19
- Our next LI training is a virtual session (via Google Hangouts: Tuesday, March 19th, 4:30-7:30. Please calendar this date!
- You will receive the meeting ID and information about joining by Friday, March 15th. This will include a call-in number; however, joining via a laptop or computer is preferred, as you can more fully participate in the session
- Our session will include:
- LI Survey Data Review
- We will (with your personal ratings kept private) deep-dive into the data from the first PT survey and brainstorm solutions to challenges and share our best practices.
- RCS Planning
- Together, we will review PT performance data, identify trends, and plan RCS.
Virtual SBS Feedback Surveys
- Many of you have shared initial feedback from your PTs around the Virtual Sessions. By 3/15, I will share with all of you a survey to "formally" collect your feedback to drive our approach to future Virtual SBS.
- LIs who held online "office hours" during their usual SBS time said this helped PTs trying to navigate Blackboard immensely!
On Your Radar!
- 3.21: NO SBS! PTs are invited to attend a hiring fair that evening.
- 3.21: PER SESSION DUE. We're asking for it early this month only. Get it in on time so we can get you paid!! More details will be included in the next LI News Blast.
- 3.27: Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences! As this affects over half of the LIs, I'll reach out to secure subs for us. Stay tuned!
- Please calendar these dates!
Upcoming SBS:
3.13 (Non D75) - Final Virtual Session!
3.13 (D75) - Managing Challenging Behavior and PBIS
- Track PTs participation to gauge their fidelity completing the Virtual Session that preceded this lesson.
- PTs will benefit greatly from your specific experiences working in D75.
- Please ensure you are emphasizing the Learning Cycle of each session -- the Learning Cycles are carefully planned and will help PTs connect the specific session Domains.
- Privilege practice time!! This was, across the board, the lowest rated area on the PT surveys! Practice is key to refining instructional skills.
- Any sample FBAs and BIPs you can provide, or alternative documents for describing and tracking behavior and intervention plans, will help your PTs concretize the experience of writing them and their function.
3.14 (Non D75) - Creating a Culture of Error and EIST II
- Start the session with 10 minutes to complete the second program survey, which was emailed to PTs. The 10 minutes is built into the session.
- Layer in your own examples for how to Plan for Error and share your experiences with "Tells."
- Start the session with 15 minutes for completing the second program survey, which was emailed to PTs. The 15 minutes is built into the session.
- Focus on the skills and strategies for Direct Instruction that are built into the session (I Do/We Do/You Do, Name the Steps, etc.) while layering in your own experiences with Direct Instruction in your classroom. PTs will likely have many questions about Delivering Direct Instruction when managing behavioral issues. Please address these concerns and offer strategies, but do not allow them to overtake the session.
